Why We’re Here

My journey began from a personal experience of needing help and support throughout the years. I have always had a deep love for charity work and providing assistance to those in need has always felt incredibly rewarding. This passion helped to establish Mommie & Me Essentials, a charitable organization dedicated to supporting families living in poverty.

With several years of personal experience in offering these vital services and running as a family-oriented charity, Mommie & Me Essentials is committed to making a positive impact in the lives of those we serve.

We support families living in hygiene poverty by distributing menstrual and feminine hygiene products to females, and daily hygiene essentials to males.

Because everyone deserves to feel secure and start each day with dignity.

We aim to restore confidence and dignity within families by meeting the everyday demand for hygiene essentials.

Because making everyday essentials available will reduce insecurity barriers.

Our Belief

At Mommie & Me Essentials, we understand the financial and emotional burden that comes with not being able to afford necessary menstrual and hygiene essentials. Our essential kits are designed to alleviate the stress and uncertainty that families face. We are passionate about advocating for those in need and providing them with the necessary resources to succeed.

Our SC households are struggling to survive hygiene poverty

Low income families with children report having to put their own hygiene needs on hold and just care for the child s needs first

Low income families report having to cut back on food expenses to afford hygiene products

Hygiene products such as deodorant body wash toothpaste and menstrual care products are not covered under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program SNAP

Hygiene poverty is when people and households can t afford the basic hygiene and grooming products they need to maintain their health and cleanliness

Nearly half of South Carolina residents struggle to afford basic necessities

What is Period Poverty?

Period Poverty:

the lack of access to sanitary products, menstrual hygiene education, toilets, or waste management and handwashing facilities.

Who it Effects:

Each month, billions of females around the world menstruate. To prepare for one’s menstruation cycle, a female might spend around $20 per month on products like pads and tampons. If there are multiple people in the household with a period, that amount may double or even triple.

Available Help:

Our organization distributes a sufficient supply of period products to females that last two menstruation cycles.

South Carolina Governor McMaster signed into law House Bill 3563, which created a sales tax exemption for feminine hygiene products.

Period Poverty

Reoccurring infections, sepsis, and toxic shock, skin irritation, vaginal itching and/or discharge
Poor mental outcomes like anxiety, depression
Youth and college students miss more school days or drop out.

Poor Hygiene

Unkempt hair (hair that is unbrushed, fizzy, or greasy)
Dirty skin and nails
Body odor, which is labeled as an immediate sign of bad hygiene
Frequent illnesses or infections.
Irritable and unstable mental well-being.
